Guernsey Airport is the only airport on the English Channel Island. Around 1m passengers pass through the Airport each year, flying mainly to and from UK cities, with some taking advantage of seasonal routes to European destinations.
Since the first regular passenger service took off from Guernsey in 1945, the Airport has undergone many improvements. In 2004, work began on improving paved areas, and this was completed in 2014. Upgrades to the Airport will see Guernsey continue to deliver a world-class service to the island for the foreseeable future.
Rezcomm was called in to work with Guernsey Airport during this period of renovation. The UK is well served by the Airport, with regular flights to locations between Exeter in the southwest and Manchester in the north, and there are also a number of routes to holiday destinations in France. Guernsey Airport needed a new system to promote and sell these destinations and offer customers a simplified booking process to help them make more informed buying decisions.
Rezcomm’s integrated system provided Guernsey with the capability to bring life to their routes, offering information about destinations and useful links to third-party operators such as car hire firms and tourist information. Customer buying decisions are well informed and the booking process is simple. The website is user friendly and promotes relevant deals and services, optimising all of the Airport’s facilities.
Using Rezcomm’s integrated system, Guernsey Airport has been able to:
Support inbound tourism to the island by promoting the various flight connections and local accommodation choices
Support capacity on all routes inbound and outbound and promote the connecting flight options via the website
Provide an offline and online booking service beyond traditional trading hours
Increase awareness of existing and new destinations served by the airport using interactive online destination content, destination maps and inspirational search tools
Act as a distribution channel for the airport, which has very limited representation on island and off, and to support the airlines and local suppliers
Capture customer booking data to help the airport identify popular routes and destinations and destinations that are perhaps under-served
