Although purpose built when it opened in 1937 Jersey Airport occupied a mere 97 acres and only had a 980 yard runway. After years of expansion and development it has evolved into an impressive hub, particularly considering the size of the island it inhabits. It is now an important transport link for 1.5m passengers each year.
In 2007 a series of improvements to the airport commenced, including a major redevelopment of the airside departures lounge, with a view to improving the experience of the Airport's customers and leaving them with a better lasting impression of the island.
Rezcomm was approached to implement its Airport Travel and Holiday Booking service at Jersey following the completion of the new departures lounge. The Airport wanted to give its customers the capability to book flights and holidays directly from its website. It wanted to increase discoverability of the flights on offer and streamline the customer experience prior to arrival at the airport.
Rezcomm’s suite of integrated solutions enabled Jersey Airport customers to book flights and holidays directly through the airport website via a secure, user-friendly, brand-matched portal. This significantly improved the customer experience prior to arrival and allowed the Airport to capture customer data that significantly increased revenue potential.
When this service proved successful, Rezcomm also provided destination maps that helped to further highlight available routes. This new system delivered multiple benefits to the airport, most importantly the ability to promote and sell indirect locations.
Using the full suite of Rezcomm solutions, Jersey Airport has been able to:
Support inbound tourism to the island by promoting the various flight connections and local accommodation choices
Support capacity on all routes inbound and outbound and promote the connecting flight options via the website
Provide an offline and online booking service beyond traditional trading hours
Increase awareness of existing and new destinations served by the airport using interactive online destination content, destination maps and inspirational search tools
Act as a distribution channel for the airport, which has very limited representation on island and off, and to support the airlines and local suppliers
Capture customer booking data to help the airport identify popular routes and destinations and destinations that are perhaps under-served
